Not that I'm picking on you, but why tip the wheeler to drain oil when there is a large drain bolt under the motor, which also has a screen that should be cleaned when the oil is changed?
As far as the oil type, it would take a little while for even the wrong oil to cause any clutch slippage, but the oithes do bring up a good point, always use an ATV/Motorcycle wet clutch rated oil, addiitives in car oil will cause slippage.
Sounds to me you may have had some slop in the shifting fork, and when you put it on it's side, it could have caused something to fall out of position, or a spring loaded part was worn or broken, and tipping it caused it to "fall" out of mesh with the rest of the transmission drive train. You may need to pull the side oover off the motor to check for any hung up parts, or if you are not comfortable with that, it may be time for a trip to the shop.

that is what is wrong. you need to immediately go to Yamaha and buy Yamalube and change the oil again. wet clutch systems require JASCO approved motor oil, and castrol 10w30 does not meet that specification. if your lucky, you havent screwed the clutch plates up. if you have fried the clutch, motosport.com has the clutch plates for about 45 bucks.

buying diesel engine oil is the best, easiest, cheapest thing to do IMO diesel oil is wet clutch compatible and is high in phosphorus and iron i believe which is very good for tranny parts, it will deff help it last, if you think about it the oil they put in trucks has to be the best...they deliver EVERYTHING they transport all our goods and such, and those trucks put up with so much torture, any vehicle that can handle 1,000,000 miles, thats pretty impressive, i use rotella T 15w-40 in my bike, you also cant go wrong with yamalube or amsoil, motul bel-ray and the rest of them but for durablility and keeping your engine running clean thats why i use the diesel oils...

you could try draining all the oil out and filling it with gas..
but remove the sparkplug and unhook the plug in your cdi box to prevent spark.
and turn it over a few times make the wheels turn , and than draining it and putting in the right oil , i know this sounds like a harsh idea , but gas will cut the oil and over-power it with lots of it. and it will also clean out any sludge and buildup in thier.
maby it clean your clutchplates at the same time.
