Hello all, I usually "hang out" in the Polaris area, but, I recently purchased an 04' 700. So far I really enjoy it. My question what type of Nerf bars do you guys use? I just do trail riding, nothing fancy. One more thing, what type of engine oil? and shaft oil? I was planning on Mobile 1, 10W-40 and maybe somthing from Amsoil for the shaft. Thanks, Al

 

I have the AC nerfs and I would buy them again. I've had them a while now and they are holding up fine. I thaught they were the best looking nerfs I could find. I forgot what I paid for them.

 

i have AC nerfs on my kfx as well and i run 10w40 also not sure what to use in the shaft since mines alset

 

I don't have nerfs on mine so I can't answer that.

If you like mobil 1 then use it, it will be fine. Any good engine oil will work.

DO NOT USE ENGINE OIL IN THE REAR END. You will hose the wet brakes and that will make you very sad and broke.
The correct fluid is Mobil fluid 424, Citgo Transgard tractor hydraulic fluid (book spec). Or any hydraulic fluid that is wet cutch compatable.

 

I am about to get some nerf bars myself. I am deciding between the dg nerf bars with heel guards and the pro armor nerf bars with heel guards.

I have moose racing nerf bars. They were on the atv when i bought so I can't make a comparison. They sure are sturdy and about $165 from moto-man.
I also use Mobil 1 in all my atv's and motorcycle. It's the Racing 4T 10w40. I know the 700 doesn't have a wet clutch but it's easier for me to use the same oil in all my stuff. The nice thing about the 700 is that it only takes about 2L for a complete oil change.

I actually buy it at walmmart. It's about $8.75 a quart plus I get a discount since my wife is a pharmacist there.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] I saw it at autozone for about a buck more.
Like some of the guys said, any good oil will work. Since the 700 uses so little oil for an oil change, a full synthetic is a great way to go for just a few bucks more.

 

Hey Budman, one more question and that's it. Seems like my engine runs pretty hot, but the temp does not come on. So I can assume that it is normal (just not used to the bigger V-tiwn). Have you heard of engine "ice" and is it worth it? Thanks, AL
