Water proof

Ok i have a 2002 Scrambler 400 4X4, bought my girlfriend a 2002 scrambler 500 2X4. We both went out last night with some friends we all got down in the creek and was riding around but we both lost pulling power to our quads for the most part, some power there just would barley pull. I am thinking maybe the belts on our Quads got wet and started slipping cause it seemed after we got out of the creek and everything dried out we were back to riding normal again. So is there anyway to fix this problem or is it just a Scrambler problem? Any info will help. Thanx.

Some of my customers snorkel machines, seal covers with silicone(hard to get cover off later),can try later model cover with drain, or can make your own(plug and nut,cut hole bottom of cover, super glue nut inside, use rubber gasket on plug, have seen it done! Not too bad looking! Anyway if water ingested, place in neutral, run at medium throttle for a couple minutes, then try low range to see if starting to pull,if not repeat. Good luck P.S if cover removed, check seal behind drive clutch for damage.

Silicone works wonders! I pulled and cleaned my seal to make sure it wasn't ripped or broken, reinstalled the cover then put a bead of black silicone around the entire cover. Smoothed it out, hasn't leaked since. Can't even see the silicone as the plastic covers it and it's black.
My bud with a ultramatic was ripping me for needing to silicone the cover, he wasn't laughing this spring when he was dead in the water because his seal leaked. Of course had to drive a circle around him(I thourougly enjoyed that part), hook up the strap and drag him out. His cover is now siliconed as well.
When it comes time to check or change the belt it's a little more work removing the old silicone but well worth it imho.
