ok im pretty sure every kind of transmission has a clutch but my buddy seems to say that there is no way that his polaris has a clutch. it is a cvt am i right on this

 

It most likely does,but what model are you refering to?

 

If it doesn't have a clutch lever, it will have centrifugal clutch. Works like an auto trans?

 

ANY CVT, Polaris or otherwise has a clutch. It makes the drive pulley engage the belt. If it didn't have a clutch you could rev the @#$% out of it and it would just sit there.

There wouldn't be a half dozen companies specializing in Polaris clutch mods if there wasn't a Polaris clutch. You can get new springs and weights, and even different helixes. Several people on theis forum have aftermarket clutch springs.

You don't have to manually manipulate the clutch when you ride because it all happens automatically. But there's still a clutch at the heart of the transmission. That's one of those basic things that I used to think everyone knew.
