Is it normal for the engine to make a tapping noise the higher the rpm. Valves were adjusted

 

Hondas generally seem to make a bit of mechanical noise, so I suppose it depends on how loud...

It might be worth while to double check the valves, and if that isn't it, the cam chain tensioner might be worth looking at.

How many hours/miles on the machine.

 

is it fuel injected?

are you hearing the injector?

 

An 03 Rincon would be carb...

 

It is not fuel injected. Please explain more about carb. The machine has 650 miles.

 

Carb is just short for Carburetor... It should't be part of your problem.

 

The noise is more of a ticking sound. Could it be piston slap?

 

At the miles you are at, I would think it would be unusual for it to be making much piston noise, assuming it hasn't been sunk and run with water and grit in the oil or something...

How loud is it, and did it just start making the noise? It only does it at higher RPM?

In any case, I'd still double check the valves since someone could have adjusted them between exhaust and intake or something.

 

I've rode it like a baby. Never been it water, and the noise is more a high rpm.

 

How loud, and has it gotten louder recently?

I'd still be wondering about cam chain tensioner.
