new sportsman 800 front end wobbles at high speed
#1
I have a sportsman 800 x2 I bought new in April. It now has 12hr and 120mi, Now that it is somewhat broken in I opened it up a bit and found that the front end/steering/handlebars have a noticeable wobble when I hit about 50mph and up.
Is this normal? I hope not. Has anyone experienced this?

I had the dealer upgrade the stock steel wheels standard on 07 x2, to 08 factory alum. wheels which comes standard with a larger tire. He told me he took the wheels/tires straight off of a 08 in stock. I assumed this would be a balanced setup. I posted a previous post talking about my rear tire wobbling slightly when cruising and looking back at the tire. I now wonder if I got some bogus wheel/tire setup when I told him that I wanted this upgrade to finish the sale. The wheels look great compared to the steel, but I should be able to do 50mph on a brand new $8000 machine without it feeling like a piece of sh*t

Is there a way to tell if the wheel/tires have ben balanced. They wouldnt use the ugly crimp on weights like cars??</end quote></div>
Maybe. I remember having those when I had steel wheels.
Now I have self-adhesive stick-on weights that mount to the inside face of my alloy wheels. They're almost invisible since they aren't on the outside surface.
Now they make wheel weights out of zinc instead of lead because lead is so bad for the environment. The old lead wheel weights make excellent hard cast bullets and people who make their own bullets will ****** them up at every opportunity.
