Default Intake boot Cracked

Hi, My intake boot going from the carb to the engine had about a 2" crack in it so you could stick a finger or two though it. Ran the machine like this for months, noticed throttle inconsistancies and checked and found the large crack. This is on a 2005 sp 700 carb. It only has 160hrs and 1050 miles, this also happened to my 2003 sp 600 twin. Anyone else have this issue?? I checked the motor mounts and they seem fine.

it happened on mine between the air box and carb. i went to lowe's and got a rubber pipe coupling. it was to long so i shorten it up a lot cheaper then o.e. and a lot thicker rubber

Have had a couple split on early models, not sure if later intakes have been strengthened.

Is it only the 600s and 700s doing this?

Im suprised it did it on your 500 non efi, being the boot is so much shorter...it is like the rubber is not made for the gasoline and hot to cold applications. I will have to check the 500 better now...and those boots are not cheap..mine was 62 dollars!! I figured it was kind of wide spread when the dealer had mine on hand...
