It's funny because it's true.

Maybe 5 years ago there was a good article on pipes. I think it was in ATV Magazine. They tried several pipes from different manufacturers on a single quad to get a direct comparison between them. Some had less power than stock. Some were worse than stock at one part of the powerband and better than stock at another. 1 out of 10 pipes was better than stock through the whole powerband. It gained a whole horsepower. Big @#$%^& whoopee! The other 9 out of 10 pipes sucked but some people thought they sounded better than stock.

Exactly. If it sounds more powerful then it must be. Unfortunately that's not the case and all you're doing is making extra noise. Something in our sport that is not a wise thing to do if you wish to maintain riding areas and the acceptance of the general public.

Sorta reminds be of a kid I went to school with. He drove a hideous green Chrysler K car. Four doors. Something like your grandma drove. What wasn't apparent by looking at the exterior was that it had a turbocharged four cylinder in it. He'd positively murder Cameros and Mustangs. He loved nothing better than pulling up to a stoplight next to a tricked out musclecar and obliterate them between stoplights. The other car made lots of noise and smoke but ended up losing and losing badly to a freaking K car.
