My Xplorer died and it sounds bad hope someone can help

Hey guys,
haven't posted in a long time but I come before you seeking help once again.
I was driving the Xplorer out to the farm one day it was running great load of power like normal just flying down the dirt road. all the suddun total power loss i had to keep it at 3/4th throttle just to go 5mph to limp it to the farm once i got it there i let off the gas and it die and wouldn't start again.
Well yesterday I got time to look at it. and the battery seemed low on power so i decided to use the pull cord. when I pulled it, it pulled very hard and it feels like something is binding in the bottom end. if i put my hand on the engine cover on the side i can feel vibrations from the sound it's making when you try to pull it over.
i also removed the plug make sure there was no compression when i was doing this incase it was a top end problem still pulls very hard.
Any idea what went out?
Thanks guys.

we had one years ago that did sorta what you described. the end result was a rebuild. the small/ thin bearing on the crank let go and the cage for the ***** split into many pieces and those pieces ended up in places they shouldnt......new piston, rings, brngs and a new bore job for the cylinder. had about 450 bucks in it and this was about 4 years ago

do you check the oil regularly in the crank? i mean the one that is down below the carb. it is forgotten about pretty easily as it is a pain in the **** to get to and fill.

Yup I just changed it. I changed all the fluids thats why i was so suprised it went out.
Your talking about the counter ballancer right fill plug?

Anyone know what would cause this to go like that?
i have oil in the counter ballance.
Just want to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Seizures are common on 2-stokes,even if maintained properly. Piston wear in cylinder, heat, lubrication among other things. Like I've posted several times 350-400 good engines, but expensive to completely rebuild. Also only lubrication to critical areas is through the gas mixture whether you premix or still have injector system, not like 4-strokes that are bathed in oil. May get by with only top end,but if piston seizure you can imagine bottom end suffers also. Good luck whatever you decide.

I just went out and checked after seeing your post i hoped it might be the top end those are cake to rebuild.
If i put my hand on the jug and pull it over i don't feel the vibration just the sound.
If i put my hand on the crank case over on the right hand side i can really feel the vibration from the binding in the engine when i pull it over.
Much as i hate to admit it I think it's the crank bearings.
going to pull the engine out of the ATV this weekend then start pulling it aprt from the jug down just in case it is the jug and i was wrong.
Hopefully this engine isn't too hard to remove from the atv.
