Tried cleaning carb but the bowl screws just strip
#1
I heard someone else say they were like butter. They weren't kidding I tried every screw driver I have. All 4 screws are in so tight they all stripped. How can I get them out any Ideas

If they are like mine, they were phillips head screws. I took my dremmel tool and cut a slot instead. Once you get them out, either switch to a bolt or an allen head screw.

if you dont have a dremmel drill you can ususally get the vice grips on those screw heads good enough to break them free. 1^ on replacing them with allen screws.</end quote></div>
YUPPPP, vise grips and replace with allen heads. When I got the intake for my 450, the guy included replacement allen head screws for the bowl to save trouble down the road.

i was helping my friend with a carb and he stipped the screw so i sat there and cranked down on that last screw with a nice pair of needlenose and finaly it got loose. we finaly got a new jet in it but if you sit tthere for long enought with needlenose or pliars they might come loose.

It's not just limited to Yamaha. Maybe the allen head screw people are behind it all.

It is a conspiracy, they are trying to show the weakness of Philips head screws, starting with the ATV industry. Then they will attack auto makers and so on until everything is allen head.
We must revolt.

It's true!!!
Was working on bike a couple of weeks ago, and one of the bolts that needed tightened was an allen head. Of course, I had the 6mm and the 10mm, but of course it took an 8mm. It's a conspiracy between them and the people that sell the tools too.
Bet I use that 8mm once in the next 3 years.
