I am dealing with the same issue on my 2005' 700 EFI as we speak. So far I ruled out that it is not my fan. My fan wasn't turning on and thus overheating. Unplug the connector on the left side of the block (temp sending unit) and turn the key on. If your fan is blowing than you can rule that out. I can leave that unplugged and it won't overheat. I am checking right now if and how to replace the sending unit... I'll let you know what I find out... Jeff

Advice I received from "Old Tech Pro" on replacing the temp sending unit - if this is true for you as well.
"Sending unit screwed into bottom of radiator, just unscrew, replace, plug in,check/bleed air in radiator, fan should cycle on and off with NO hot light."
