Default still working on 2000 bear

We had lots of advice to check stator, so we pulled it apart and the stator does not look burned, but had oil all inside. We didn't think this was right????????? does anyone know?

The shaft seal is gone. Its allowing engine oil to splash on the stator. Replace it and clean the stator good with 2+2 Gum Cutter to get the oil residue off. Reassemble and retest.

If you need a new stator, try www.rickystator.com

it is very hard to see with your eyes if stator is bad i agree with looking for burning but the best way is to get it tested by a pro . you will probably find continuity in all wires but this doesnt mean its ok , i see alot of yamahas with this problem and my money would be on the stator . get it tested by a rewinds company . they can be rewound if its bad , you dont have to buy a new one .hope this helps

Yes we going to go ahead and replace the stator. We get no continuity or no reading at all. Although the yamaha dealers repair shop said that it should have oil in the stator. Also going to change out the regulator to. Hope this work, if not back to square one. Thanks alot.
