Need some suggestions, please! A friend on mine purchased what we think might be a 1987 Honda TRX200SX, we where told it was a 250 but looking at some of the manuals online it looks more like a 200. But I could be wrong, anyway the problem is the electric start has quit working. Kick start works fine. This all started after we washed the ATV after riding through mud. The neutral, console lights, rear brake lights stopped working along with no electric start. Battery seems to be ok but I can not find a broken wire. The headlight works, any idea on what to check or replace to get electric start working again?

If it has electric start AND a kickstart, that only leaves the TRX250 as the only 2WD. The 4WD TRX 350 also had electric start AND a kick start but it was 4WD only.


If this only happened immediately after the washing, chances are almost 100% that you have got a bad connection due to the water. You need the find the problem now before things dry up or you will continue to have the problem everytime it is exposed to the elements.
ALOT of possible areas of concern are involved here. Start with checking connections and please have a 12V test light handy. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
