I just picked up a 400ex for 200 bucks, anything i need to know about them, like little quirks or anything? and if your wondering why its so cheap, its in pieces and there is something wrong with the motor, im just waiting for the service manual to see what it is. thanks

 

Their very durable and a very nice machines a pleasure 2 ride if you ask me. good luck with putting your puzzle together.

 

yeah it shouldnt be too bad, i got mostly everything so, and thanks, i have a blaster right now that does about 70,pretty fun quad, but i think ill like the hydraulic brakes all around and electric start

 

the 400ex is a nice quad. even if you TRY to break it, the thing will still go. the 400ex is like the energizer bunny of honda...

Do your Maintenance,
Fluids. Clean carb, Air filter..
Clean and regrease front A-arm bushings and stearing stem bearing...
Make shure brakes work! LOL mine didnt!
Check Rear axle for any movement....
Clean and Tighten the chain..

For $200 I'd expect a 400ex in a box in about 10,000 pieces..... if it is in one piece and runs you basically just stole it....lol....so anything that needs fixing will be more then worth the effort.......
