Default 2004 Grizzly taking off..

Just purchased '04 Grizz with 25 miles and 5.0 hours. Problem I'm having is that is seems to me that i'm having to give it too much gas to get her going. I'm used to a gear box and the auto is knew to me. Any ideas on what to check?

ive never rode an auto that that snaps when you touch the gas. the throttle response isnt to quick in the autos, im sure you can set them up to get more hop out of them.

It's just different from a gearbox. I reckon it's gonna take a bit of getting used to.

id say the belt is fine but u can get it to take off like a bullet by jetting the carb but in doing so u need to match an after market pipe to match the jet kit to keep from burning up spark plugs i have a 660 that tares the 700 up off the line and on top end it makes all the differences in the world give it try you want be sorry

First off welcome to the Site! Looks like you have a nice quad there! If you don't mind me asking... how much did it cost you?

Auto's on Quads use clutches the same as a snowmobile..... my sled doesn't start moving until I am at 3,500 RPM The response isn't instant on auto quad as with a geared quad...

This is the exact same situation i ran into when i went from a standard Foreman 450 to my new Kodiak 450 auto. It seems to feel like you really have to hammer the throttle to get it to pick up speed, but that is just the way that there made. Its something you get used to quickly, and IMO is the only downfall to belt driven atv's.

Snow,

How do you like your Kodiak 450? I love my Grizz 450 -- great Quad! Doesn't have the speed of the big bores.. but I sure can hang with them in the rocks!

We'll just say it was worth driving 550 miles to go get.
