Is the 08 model that much better than the 03 in terms of suspension, power, handling? Im definately looking to upgrade in the near future and cant decide between a used 450 or a newer Z. I mostly trail ride so im leaning towards the z.

 

I have read that the newer z400 models are becoming more like the 450. i think if you can afford it definitely get the newer z400 as it seems your getting the best of both worlds, espicially if your doing mostly trail riding. the z400 has plenty of what you need unless your looking for a little edge if your racing....

 

Better suspension, bigger carb, tougher frame are the major differences. A few minor ones as well. Of course that will make it handle a lot better.

As for power, a stock 08 compared to the modded 03 you already have may seem like a step down.

The Z would be a better choice for the trails IMO.
