Default 03' sp 500 h.o. smoking

I noticed my quad smoking. The smoke is very white in color. I changed the oil and filter but no change in the smoking. Is there a drain plug on the engine for the oil or just on the jug? There is only 1100 miles on this machine, time for a overhaul already? ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Sump drain plug on right side of engine that needs to be drained when doing oil changes. Holds about 8 ounces oil. IF never done or never cleaned tank strainer,OR wrong weight oil could be source of problem white smoking( oil burning) Plus is oil level high, also check air box for oily air filter, hopefully this your problem!

Either 0w-40 (Mobil 1 makes it, Polaris is phasing out their 0w-40) OR PS4 PLUS 2w-50 the new Polaris oil. DONT use 10w-30,10w-40,OR any other viscosity oil! YES I KNOW others have used and SWEAR by different oils and viscosity,BUT they dont experience the damage I see especially on the 500 engine from wrong oil and infrequent oil changes! PLUS there is a cleanout plug on muffler, but dont think will solve your problem. Keep us posted. Good luck

do i just fill it up in the jug or do i need to put some in the engine to prevent a "dry start".

Drain tank and sump plug, clean screen on oil tank fitting IF never done before.Put in 1 3/4 quarts plus new oil filter, top of oil tank is vent line, clamp 1" away from fitting with small vicegrips, run for a couple minutes, release pliers, hissing noise normal(this is to prime oil pump) then check/top off to full mark on dipstick screwed all the way in. Good luck
