Hi All,
I was out at the 'Dunes' today for an afternoon of wheeling. All was going good and I was riding some sweet wheelies today until I brought it up too far and it came back on the back rack standing straight up. It was only like that for a couple seconds and I pushed it back down.

Anyway's ever since then I have been having a weird 'Problem'

1. My clock reset.
2. The coolant light on the top right of the display comes on at idle and goes away above 7mph, and may flicker every now and then at higher speeds.
3. When the coolant light comes on, the gear select light goes out.

I have no idea, I looked for some loose connections or something like that, figured I would ask here, I will be working on it more Friday. I rode the quad for quite some time after that and it ran great like always. Any idea's/help would be great!

Thanks!

Someone at least has to have an idea on something to check.

Please help?

Talked to the stealer today and they shrugged thier shoulders and said 'Bring it in'...Well if they can't give me an idea now, why would I bring it in?

The tech said it must not be overheating as the light would be on continually.

A buddy brought up a broken wire or a grounding issue? I did drive it through a bunch of water too....

Thanks!

Well.. one day of long hot riding... gave me wacky gear select lights and my display showing a bunch of zeros (going around in circles)....

Turns out the main harness from the near the battery up to the front of the quad dropped down and started to melt on the exhaust pipe!! WTF!! ..

Thankfully I found it... was able to cut the insulation back.... tape up the 2 wires.. and tape the whole thing back together... see the picture below

Take a look at your machine...

WOW!

I will definatley look at that!

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea where to start. Hopefully it's not raining out tomorrow when I get off work and I can look at it before the weekend. I'd really like to get some more riding out.

Anyone else have some other idea's?

Thanks a lot Steve!

Yea.. I was very surprised when I found it.... because that is a big cable.. I guess the tie-wraps gave out or something.. either way it is fixed...

Let me know how you make out!

p.s. I started tearing my SC-III skid down last night.... cleaning everything up... shocks will be here from Ian @ Monster Perf early next week... now I just need some new sliders... I already got my BC3 torsion spring spacers and Sno-Shooters Front A-Arm Bushings !! and the best part of it all... is that my girlfriend took my change jar to the bank.... $643.72 in nickles, dimes and quarters!! Covers my shocks, torsion springs, spacers and bushings

I will be working on the quad this afternoon I hope.

My SC-III is in pieces, I'm having the rails and what not powdercoated as we speak! Ian has my shocks too (just bought rebuildables for this season) and they should be shipped today! Can't wait to get it back together, it's going to be a bad lookin' unit! That's a hell of a change jar! Mine is pretty good size, but if there's 100.00 in there I'd be lucky, I don't use cash much so I never have change . I'll shoot some pics of my sled when it's back together.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a possible ground/short, it's very odd that the problem started after standing it up, at least you didn't go all the way rubber side up. You could unplug all the connectors one by one and add some dielectric grease to the connections. I'm not sure but I figure the harness must plug into the back of the LCD, I'd start there. Sometimes a connector may appear to be plugged in all the way but it still won't work, but if you reseat it, it does. The jolt may have knocked something loose. Check to see if there is any movement in the LCD module, is you battery secure? Another thing, (I'd have to check my owners manual) is the coolant light temp activated or is it a low coolant warning? If it's for low coolant, maybe the sensor got displaced inside the reservoir or something. That wouldn't explain the other stuff but worth a check regardless.

One thing I like about the Yammys is they have marine spec. electrical, you should have seen me last night, winching my kodi out of a sloppy mud hole on it's side, the only tree around was on the same side as the bike was dug in, wish I took the camera... the wife dosen't like when I take it now since I trashed the last one.

Ut oh got a little stuck eh? I haven't ridden in any conditions like that. But I want to get the gaurd and such for the front as well as a winch so I can ride it like that.

I fixed the problem. There was a single ground wire comming out of a mass of wires just above the oil filter with a small male/female connector on it. The thin spot of the male connector had broken (I was pulling and cleaning all conections and found this one broke). So I took and stripped the wires touched them together and fired her up. Boom problems gone so I got some connectors and taped them together etc trying to make it 'water' tight but with out crimpers and such at my apartment (living away from my tools/garage sucks) I made due. I rode it around the road a bit and it's back to normal now. Should be good to go!

Thanks for your help all!

When you get the chance take it apart again and solder where you crimped the end on and put some heat shrink over it, good as new.

Yeah I got stuck, most of the conditons are pretty nasty here until I get to a logging road which is about 3 km from the house. I have to go up a steep hill that is rutted pretty bad, down the other side, across a couple muddy fields and through a cutover to a skidder road that joins up to the old logging road. Very rough terrain with lost of mud rocks and stumps, have to be gentle or I'll tear everything up, the stock plastic skid plates are pretty much trashed but will have to last the rest of the fall, we usually start getting snow the first or second week of December and I have no heat in my garage (yet) so I will have to park it before it gets too cold. Don't want it to be a block of ice all winter.
