how to change a drive belt for 2001 polaris scrambler
#3
I put a new belt on every year for 5 years and never removed the pullys. What you have to do is put the bike in neutral then slowly rotate the reear pully while pulling the belt over the edge of it. Work it around just like reseting the chain on a bike. Same for install.

He wasn't being a dumbass. It's possible to damage the belt that way. But it's easier than holding the driven pulley sheaves open and pulling the belt all the way down to the bottom to get enough slack to slide it off the drive pulley. I used to do it the right way, but now I do it the easy way like you guys.

Remove a pulley just to change a belt? LOL. Kinda like removing the wheel to add air to the tire.
Here is a Video of removing a belt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_HhKSY3Ro8
