there's a timing chain that runs up there, you'll need to unbolt the cam sprocket from the cam and then slide the head off. I would just ebay for a book...I got a used one cheap the other day and parts are certainly cheap for them.... I have a 90, a 110 and a 185...

I would just get a Heli-Coil and rethread
without removing the head
less work
Good luck Ray

the only problem there is that you will leanve some metal shavings inside the cylinder head. It could be a very short ride! and a very expensive one too.

There is a solution that is NOT 100% but may save you removing the head.
When you use the tap [which is going to make new threads and remove metal from the head] make sure the piston is at top and then coat all the threads and anything else you can reach with wheel bearing grease. That tends to hold the shavings and you can remove them later with q tips, a whole bunch of em, so don't buy the fancy ones, get those long hospital kind... then it is still not 100% but I have seen it used successfully when people are patient and thorough.
Then again, if you have a repair manual, popping the head off might be simpler and less time consuming- it is the preferred method of technicians who do it for a living. If you can read a book, you can do this job.
I'll be happy to help, just let me know what you need.
Rule1 : DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SPARK PLUGS this is what got you there. OK?

Heli-Coil
Now that head is off makes simple
If head were still on simply put gerase on the tap
Been done many times over the years
when done clean new threads install Heli-Coil done
Just my thoughts
Good luck

ahhh. good old head replacements. had to do this on an atc 70. if you buy a used head and feel up to a challenge, refurbish the head after you buy it. i didn't, and my "new head" actually has worse valve guides, so it works, just burns a bit more oil.
