New Lt Oil?
#1
Ok, so now I'm panicking, I am at work (ssshhhh) and I did a gearcase oil change today and I don't know if I had that LT oil. How important is it? If I put the premium oil in, do I need to change it? I only backed it into the garage and have not used the ADC, did i already cause damage if I had the wrong stuff in.
btw I have a '08 500 X2 with ADC

OMG, I'm gonna vomit - I'm pretty sure I got the wrong oil from the dealer. If I got the wrong oil - can I use my X2 until I get the new oil. I figure maybe I wont turn on the ADC - OR, will it still ruin the front gearcase either way - so far I oly backed it into the garage. OH BOY!!!! The first time I DIY - and I did it wrong, but Thank god I did it myself, cause now I may know if it has the right oil or not.

i would not use it until you get the right front end oil(LT) for the adc. even when your not using it the front end would be turning in the wrong oil and might harm the internals that are differnt in the adc set up. there was memeber on here that found out the hard(expensive) way w/ the wrong fluid. imo.

I am alomost in a blind panic about this, If I put the wrong fluid in, how do I flush the reservior. Obviously I would drain out the bad stuff. I would then put the new stuff in and drain it again, then what???? Should I go ahead and vomit???

Cool, thanks for calming me down ,,, Did you ever operate the machine with the wrong fluid in it?

Hey man don't puke it ain't worth it! I think you'll be ok, you only pulled it into the garage. I do agree with Stendori though DO NOT ride it until you know for sure that you've got the correct fluid. If you do have the wrong stuff I'de say pull the plug and let it drain overnight to get as much out as possible. Then refill with the correct fluid and ride for a short distance (around the yard) for 5 minutes or so. Then once again pull the plug and let it drain overnight. Fill it again and I'd say you'll probably be ok. Someone please chime in if I'm wrong or know of a better method. The Polaris fluids are kinda tricky so don't beat yourself up over it, ya just need to correct the error. Once again though,DO NOT RIDE until you're sure you have the right stuff in there.....Look at it this way,you won't make the same mistake again. It'll stick with you from now on. If it makes you feel any better I've read of even very mechanically inclined guys making the same mistake.
