Trans oil change in a TrialBoss
#1
Hey there....
Just sprucing up a "new to me" machine. You know oil changes and plug and stuff. This thing is a 2000 TrailBoss 325. I've got the plastic skid plate off from under the engine area to change the engine oil. But I also want to change the trans/gear case oil. Problem is that I can't find where to drain the trans oil. While lying under there and looking up I see a funky bolt at the lowest part of the trans on the left side bottom. The bolt is about 2 1/2 inches long (or so, I never actually measured it) and reaches over to the left side frame. It threads into a fitting of sorts in the trans. Is this the drain for the trans? I don't want to take out the wrong thing and wind up with problems. If this is the drain, does the bolt just come out of the fitting, or does the whole fitting come out? Does teflon tape need to go back on this for re-assembly?
Thanks

Combination drain plug and transmission brace bolt! Loosen small lock nut, screw bolt clockwise into larger plug about 1 inch or so. This allows enough room for drain plug to unscrew. Have had some customers suck out fluid and replace,BUT wont get it all, plus leaves small metal particles in tranny.Best to do it the right way! After draining and drain plug tight, screw small bolt up to frame, when touches, turn 1/2 turn, tighten lock nut. Teflon tape not necessary, but you can do it for your own peace of mind.Good luck

Thanks O.P.Tech...
I did a lot of searching around on this site last night and came across an old post that had the manual page on it. I read and looked at the pictuers on it and came up with the same info that you are telling me. The old post may have even come from you, I don't remember who it was from. Thanks again, going to get on it today.
