I have been working on my 350rx conversion for sometime now.

I was curious if anyone else here has one or know someone who has an RX conversion.

If so I do have one question in which I haven't been able to get an answer for. Will the stock 350x headpipe fit in the chassis without hitting the frame directly in front of the motor?

I haven't gotten this far with my project yet so I haven't been able to do any measuring. Although I don't want to be completely finished with the project and not be able to ride because I am waiting on a custom exhaust to be made.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 350x engine on a 300ex frame. I'm
not sure how much different the 250r frame is
but I just extended the original head pipe
about three inches then had a muffler shop
make an extension to the end of the pipe to
make up the difference. I cut the head pipe off about two inches from the engine, put my three inch extensions on, then made sure the pipe cleared then tack welded it together.
I took it off and finished welding it. Make sure the flanges will clear the welds!
If that is too much trouble call Powroll.
They have a system for 350x-300ex combo for about $350.

Actually I do have a 250x with a 350x motor installed in it that I ride now.

In that project I did let Powroll build my pipe, but I didn't think about adding the extensions to my headpipe.

Hey Brad I was wondering, did Powroll's pipe help it run any better? I am considering buying one but didn't know if it was worth it. Also is it much louder than stock?

 

I think Powroll's pipe helped out on top end because of the diameter of the head pipe, it is huge. I am also running the shotgun silencer (the one that has two 3 inch supertrap ends on it).

Although as far as bottom end I couldn't really tell a difference.

There is one factor that may have affected how my machine runs though. I'm am in need of a fresh rebuild of the top end. I think I will see more of a difference once I install a .20 over 10.5:1 piston.

 

I just put a 10.25 Wiseco piston in mine.
It made a big difference. I love it except when it comes time to kick start it. There is a big difference there too! So you think the pipe is worth it? I need to go ahead and order it. How do you like the looks of the system? Does it look nice , sound?

 

I just remembered one thing I was going to ask. Does the head pipe come out in front of or behind the frame?

 

I don't know if the little extra top end is worth the money the pipe cost. I had mine made back in 94 or 95 and it was about $350.00.

As far as looks are concerned the pipe looks excellent.

The pipe extends in front of the frame directly in front of the motor and then exits out the back just the same as a stocker.

I have done 3 of these conversions, the last one, I had Ken Cornwell w/ Rocky Ridge Racing do the frame modification and I put a 350x stroked and poked to a 475 by Curtis Sparks. It "ROCKS". A stock or aftermarket 350x exaust will fit with no modifications.
