500 2-up Touring or 800 2-up Touring

I say only you can make that decision. I went with the 800 and am not sorry one bit, but I only made the leap after riding a friends 800 for several days. Most people have no need or use for the power of the 800. Some do, and those will be well served by it. People talk about the poor MPG's on the 800. I don't have a problem with it. If you are going riding, so what if it costs $15 to fill up rather than $10. It likely cost you a lot more in gas just to haul your machine to the trail. Just my opinion.

Top speed is only 2-3 mph diff. You get there faster on the 8 though. Either machine will spin all 4 when towing but the 8 will do it easier. 8 will wheelie easier but both will.

I am more than happy with my 500 x2 - I have dragged my friends 800 single sportsman and keep right with him. Not much diff in speeds, but the bigger engine will no doubt give you more power. I guess it comes down to money and power.
But, the 500 will give you enough power to give a great ride!

I just came off a 500 HO ATP and to me there is a huge difference in power, maybe the 500EFI bikes are a lot faster the the carburated HO bikes, but my 500 HO coulsn't compare to the 800 EFI HO in terms of acceleration or top speed. I notice the improved torque more than anything else, particularly when pulling a load, the 800 hooks up faster and get's down to business faster. With RE: to wheelies, my '04 500 HO ATP wouldn't wheelie at all, my wife's '05 Sporty 500 HO would wheelie ok in low range, my '08 800 EFI wheelies in high range.

I have 500 ho efi touring, and love it, good power and great mileage 27-28mpg dont notice difference when riding 2, never tried 800 i'm sure has alot more torque, just my 2 cents worth.

I've got the 08 500 EFI touring, love it...lots of power and torque, and I ride 2 up quite a bit. I'm sure the 800 is a bit more....but unless you're planning on doing alot of towing or carrying really heavy loads....I think for the $ the 500 was the best choice for the price, and not that the extra gas makes a huge difference, in time it does add up, think of the extra mod's you can do with the extra $..lol.
