My wife has a 99 AC 300 and the only real complaint she has with the 300 is the very poor location, hard to reach, high/low range selector. I would have to agree.
Has anyone made or come up with a modification that would maybe extend the linkage up to a more convenient location? It would be nice to have a selector on the left side like the foward/reverse selector on the right.

I have a 2000 and Love it! The oly complaint that I have is that it STILL backfires ALL THE TIME! The dealer don't have a clue. I dont guess it hurts but it sure is embarassing when your braggin on your cat then Chitty Chitty Bang Bang makes an appearance. My ridin buddies both have Polaris SP 500's and run circles around me. My only solis is that if they flip at 55 mph, they are toast; if I flip at top speed, I have a much better chance (plus I have a pretty thick sculled grape).

Well just to let you 300 owners in on a little something. High Lifter has a few new products coming out, one if them is a lift kit for the AC 300. They also have ATLEAST 1 other product for Arctic Cat coming, I'm hoping it's a skid plate, but Scott would not tell me.

I have a 2000 300 4x4. The only thing I don't like about it is the power. I agree, however, about the range selection lever. That independent rear suspension sure makes up for it though.

I have a 003004X4, good machine! Had to adjust float high shortly after new, would bog out, also seems to have stopped backfireing. Lifted front suspension, changed diff linkage to get locking diff, reversed outer steering joint to eliminate bumb steer, no other mods neccesary! Only big complaint is jar & pull through handlebars when you hit bump or ruts. P.S The tank hole is to F**k**g small what a pain.

I think AC has beaten the heck out of the King Quad!

Only mistake as I see it is not locking the front diff, and not punching the bore out a bit!

I've actually considered pulling my big bore kit and buying a new AC, but the SP500 has spoiled me for anything lesser!

My 300 has been bulletproof. Lots of pulling power, great ride and a locking front axel. Mine did backfire for the first 200 hundred miles or so, I now have close to 3,000 miles on mine and it seems to run stronger with age. Yes, the high - low shifter is a pain in the butt. I don't have any other complaints.
