Default Predator oil pump? And electrical issue...

Does anyone know is the oil pump on an 03 preddy electrical or just mechanical?? Reason I'm asking leads me to a second question... Been trying to get my bike back on the trails. Went out to start it this morning and saw some smoke coming from the front. Took the fender off and pinointed that it was one of the two brown wires grounded to the front of the frame on the starter button side of the bike. Of the two wires, one of them goes up to the clutch switch (this one not burnt). The other one disappears up through a harness near the gas tank (This one gets HOTTT and is burnt to the copper). I simply disconnected this wire from the frame and the bike starts up fine and runs. Anyone know what this wire does?? Thanks..
