I recently purchased a 89 moto 4 250, has not manual though. Can anyone tell me the oil viscosity, type and filter I need to put in there?

Some people have been saying that they put diesel engine oil in there because the additives are good for the wet clutch, like a 15w 40 CF oil. That would be good for me as I have a diesel truck and lots of oil on hand. Thoughts?

i have heard of people running shell rotella 15w40 in the wet clutch quads with no problem. i, on the other hand, use Yamalube. call the stealership for the amount of oil you need, 10w40 should do you fine unless your in a cold climate and plan to ride. the stealership will also have the filter you need as well.
