hello everyone I was wondering if anyone has had any expierance with these tires, do they perform well in a variety of conditions, especially in snow and mud? Also the other day I changed a Belt on my Sportsman and today I was out riding and the thing was slipping like crazy, what did i do wrong? Do i need a new cover or gasket? Please Help!

Victor69er,
I had the Muddrunners on my 99 500cc Sportsman,and now my 00 Xplorer 400cc.

These tires are one of the best traction tires in the worst of mud and snow conditions. They also have a superior ride on hardpack.

Your belt is still slipping?Does it slip after entering water?

If your in Ontario, guessing, snow has a nasty ability to get sucked into the vent of the belt case. Happened to me at high speed in soft fresh powder. Thought I could cover the belt case vent tube with a cloth, but it cost me a belt. That case needs to breathe! Lots of heat gets generated in a CVT, and you can't cover up the vent. I put a PVC elbow near the rear of the belt case, works fine. If the belt starts to slip in snow, just run for a bit, but not IN the powdery stuff. It'll be fine real quick once that water (snow) has burned off the clutch sheaves.

The belt just started slipping yesterday. It has never slipped before, even though i have been in walter to the front headlights. I was driving up a road with about 6 -7 inches of snow, and about 3 miles later of breaking trail it started slipping, so i stoped and slipped it into neutral and revved it a little and then it was fine.

Swac1,

Where did you put the elbow and did you route a hose from the elbow? Where to?

I am also looking for a new set of sneakers for my Sportsman. I was just going to go with the mudrunners and wheels from Polaris until I read some of the new reviews. The ATV News site has a comparison they did on all the leading mud tires. They had nothing but good things to say about the mudrunners, in fact they had rated them best in their last test. However this time they also had Titan 589’s. They only had them in 25” and could not believe how unstoppable they were. Bottom line they are the new king of mud. I called Rocky Mountain and asked for a price (delivered to NY). For the four 12” silver wheels and the 26” 589’s mounted and shipped, $488. I have since asked my dealer for a price on the same setup and will hope to know by tonight. I ride my machines 12 months a year and live just outside of Buffalo, NY. We don’t get as much snow as the Weather Channel sometimes implies, but we do get snow. This year we have over 100” already and when it melts we have muddy trails for a while, hence the need for “Super-Gription tires”.

Mudrunners or 589’s? From the article you can’t go wrong with either!

I put the elbow at the top of the belt cover, near the rear, facing rearward. I didn't use a host, just the elbow. Now if you were to go in water to the bottom of the seat ( I haven't ) water could go in the elbow. But I am not a submariner.

I will replace my Mudrunners with Mudrunners! I have 26 in. tall tires, had to put washers behind right front wheel because of slight tie rod end contact under tire flex.
