i dont want another foam filter which is uni and ai wanter performance so ill get k&n

i also have other questions..

1. have you guys heard anything about moose hand brush guards?
2.Also wat type of handle grips do you reccomend? ive looked at spider and gel ones on ebay??
3. tire chains?? i have 22" mudlights were do i find them to fit? i saw some v ones on rockymtn but do i have to custom make them?
4. exhasut slip ons?

 

Okay, I'll bite on this one....you really open up a can of worms, there are a lot of opinions on this subject and you will likely hear them all. I guess I'll go first. I run K and N filters on all my machines. Always have. I know they say they increase horsepower, but I don't think it is noticeable. What is noticeable is the better throttle response. They allow more air in, which means they allow more dirt in. Does that mean it will decrease the engine life of your atv? I don't know, haven't seen any studies out there and haven't kept a rig long enough to find out. Although I do change my oil more often. The foam filters like uni are much better at filtering dirt and dust, so you would be better off with one of them for trail use, etc. However, in the sand, they plug up fast, so KN is better. Either one cleans up good and is reusable and performs well. So, in a nutshell, KN for sand, Uni for dirt. Just my 2 cents. BTW, I doubt one filter will fit all those, they are vehicle specific and there are a gazillion different sizes.

 

Stick with foam.

K&N's pass dirt!!! I ran them on everything for a while, and would wipe out the intake with a white cloth every time I changed them, and there was always a thin film of fine dust....

The most restrictive thing on the Hondas is that metal canister insert. If you get a UNI for the Recon, it will get rid of that, and that is what is most important.

As for the Foreman, I am not sure if the UNI gets rid of the canister or not. I do know you have to keep the canister with the Ranchers, old Foremans, and the old 300....can't figure out why!

ive ran k&n filters in all of my bikes also with no problems. if u change your oil on a reg basis u wont have a problem. but now i am running a fuel customs intake with there filter and it does a much much better job filtering than the k&n. the reason for this is the k&n is a 3 ply filter and the fuel customs is a 8 ply.

 

ok well in the 3 years we have had these we never have gone to the dunes..

and i ride mostly my yard and some emtpy dirt lots?
