new 00 scrambler 400 4x4 oil injection question.
#1
I just got a used 00 scrambler 400 4x4. I'm steady going through it top to bottom so stay tuned for lots more questions. PLEASE.
the previous owner disconnected the oil injection and is running premixed gas. Fine with me. I'm an old dirt bike rider anyway. I'll be sorting out whether its broken or just disconnected shortly anyway, just out of curiosity i guess.
question is: Why do so many posts seem to be disconnecting the oil injection? Is it unreliable? Ive had lots of oil inject systems on old enduro bikes and outboard boat motors that never failed me. Is the scrambler system flawed? Should I return to injection once I sort it out, or keep premixing anyway.
Thanks

Nope it's not flawed the percentage of failing is less than 10% I think.some people don't trust it.My system has not failed me.If you ask me it's a waist of money to buy the kit to block it off.Keep premixing if you want or hook it back up if it's fine. One of the only reason people disable it is because the motor is highly modded.

i agree. Some people dont trust it and dont want to run the risk of it failing and burning up the engine. As said the risk is very low that it will fail. Keep the questions comin!

I pulled the cover off the oil pump box. It was a complete mud block. I mean it was full. The cable was cut. the cable lever was rusted in place and wouldn't pivot. I coul;dn't find the head for the screws that hold it in place. This surgery took all afternoon to get apart. it definitely wont be going back together with philips head screws.
I've been searching online all evening for an replacement oil pump. I don't see one anywhere. It might be time to find a pump eliminator.
Anyone know if a different pump cross references to the scrambler?
What is the pump eliminator called and where is the best place to get one?
Where should I be looking for the other end of the cable?
