I want to get more cc's out of my 250X and instead of buying a stroker crank and shellin out big money i was wondering if a 300EX rod would work in my 250X?

are you sure the cam chains aree different lengths?? when i got my new one it clearly said 300EX and not 250X and it was exactly the same length unless they put a 250X cam chain in a 300EX box?? my motor builder and i were talking and he seems to think the cranks are the same but the rods and pistons are different. the 300 rod is longet and the pin height is higher or lower than the 250. he was telling me about one motor he built was a 300 but used a 250 piston. i dunno for sure call your local dealer for more information.

The 300EX rod on a 250X crank is not the answer. The complete cranks won't swap either , they are different .

250X and 300EX are quite similar and many top end parts will swap , but to increase displacement there is nothing you can pull from a 300EX that will do any good in the pursuit of raising cc's.

I thought that the only difference were:

Longer rod in the 300EX about 4mm and a lower compression piston in the 300EX..
I know mnay people who have swapped in a 250X piston into their 300EX and got extra power due to the added compression. ALso I have heard many times about the rod swap.

I think you may have your facts messed up.

Oh and one other difference is the 300EX has electric start..

Call TC, Curtis SParks or Powroll.

I am almost positive that you cna use a 300EX rod in a 250X....
Although your best bet would be to just get the stroker crank, High Comp. Piston, Cam, bigger valves/valve springs and port/polish...

TC can take a 250 out to a 406...

I don't think that the rod swap would help you because it is actually the crank in the 300ex that is different. You could always just have the head milled(Raising the comp.) if you wanted some cheap power.

i hope the 300 rod adds power cause i just got one and my motor builder told me it will work and add a lot of power
theres no replacement for displacement!
