Recon Racer
#1
I may be coming into about 850 bucks by summertime, and am comtemplating making my recon into a speed demon. I will plan on getting works shocks, a 250ex pipe(maybe), nerf bars (if they make them for a 250ex), and 250ex plastics/bumper and grab bar. What is everyones opinion on this? I am doing this because since I have been riding the 400ex, i need something with sporty-er suspension, power, and looks. Also, any info on 250ex/recon performance parts avalible would be appriciated.

I was thinking about boreing and porting/polishing. were did you get both of those done and what kind of piston did you pute in it! Also how do your surtraks work. Ever tride them in sand? Do you know how much you can bore it if you sleeve it? sorry for all the ?s

I will try to answer your q's the best I can. the boring was just an overbore (myabe 2 cc's at most, no power imrovment at all) because my K&N was damaged and sucked in dirt. And while we had it apart, my dad's friend who builds and races drag-bikes for a living ported/polished the motor. The sur-trak's work great for mud and trails, and wear excelently, but are too heavy for my new-found riding style. And to answer your last question, as of now, nobody makes a big-bore kit for the recon, but with the release of the 250ex, I see one in the near future being availible.

I had a racing recon and am building another one right now , dont bother with the 250ex stuff , highlifter.com has a power up kit for recon , I put a different head on my recon and had it bored to a 300 , 300ex nerfs will fit on the recon , I am trying to figure out if 300ex shocks will fit on a recon . also a good thing to get would be wheel spacers also found at highlifter.com If you want a sportier look for the recon then cut the plastic with a jig saw with a very fine tooth metal blade just make sure you remove that front grill peice were the lights are . good luck with your recon !
