1984 TRX 200 Cam shaft

I have a service manual and the directions to time the cam chain. When I put the cam chain sprocket on the cam there are about four different ways for the cam lobes to point. I know the sprocket has to have the '0' at 12:00 and the crank has to have the 'T' lined up. Perhaps I am missing something in the book, but it seems to me that the sprocket should also be timed to the cam. The book I have does not say the sprocket has to be timed to the cam.
Any help please, thanks, Tom/Idaho

You line up the " T " then the " o " on th cam sprocket lines up with the index mark on the top cover... Be careful you don't remove the cam on the advance and put it back on backwards it will be out of time 180 degrees...

I guess my question is; the cam lobes will point in several directions cause you can put the sprocket on the cam 180 degrees and still have the "0" pointing up. When you first slide the cam into the cylinder head which way do the cam lobes point cause you can install the sprocket two ways on the cam.
Thanks for your patience, Tom/Idaho
