Default Question on 88 trailboss 250 4x4....

I just picked up a 88 trailboss 250 4x4 yesterday. Scored big on it as it just had the upper end rebuilt and new tires all the way around. Only prob I have is the neg cable for the battery was not hooked up. Can anyone tell me it goes on the wheeler? I spent all my money on the wheeler so the manual will have to wait til after x-mas unless someone can direct me to an online manual for it. I haver found a few schematics for it but none have helped me so far.

Thanks, Shaun

There is a strap holding the oil line just before it gets to the carb,it goes on the same bolt on most. if the ground wire is on the wheeler or you have it ,it coud be bent to where it will go(don't straighten it). maybe on the back of the starter mount bolt.

Default Question on 88 trailboss 250 4x4....

Thanks deadman. I figured it just grounded somewhere but wasn't sure where. I got all the parts for the batt and holddown plus all the stuff he removed when he redid the upper end. As soon as it warms up(-12 with windchill right now) I'm gonna go hook it up. I want electric start even though it easy to pullstart. I got this wheeler for my family useage. Wife and 4 kids don't want to ride my yamaha blaster. I absolutely love it but they don't wanna learn to clutch and shift.
On a sidenote the motor only has 1 tank on the rebuild. How long til I consider it broke in?

Thanks, Shaun

usually after 2 tanks of fuel you can consider these engine broke in. on a fresh rebuilt it is advisable to mix your gas at something like 50:1 and still run the oil injector. more friction on a fresh top end

The guy I got it from said he was doing that. I filled up today and 50:1 on the mix. Can't wait to play later.

I forgot to tell you,on some if not all the older, anyway, Polaris wheelers you risk burning out your light bulbs if you don't have a battery hooked up,even if it is dead it has to be hooked up.

That explains my burned rear and front bulbs. When I picked it up it had high but no low and no taillights. Went to start it up and load it and the high burned out right away.
Learn something new every day. lol
Thanks DM!
