ok i got a uni air filter for my trike and it does not look to be the right one.
but i went on the uni web site and it is the right one

so my question is in my air box the stock filter use to slide over this metal mesh that has a bracket that treads on the back of it and gets held down by 2 of the four air box lid screws

the uni does not have a hole for this bracket and it will not slide over the metal mesh so do i have to cut the filter or the mesh

 

I too just bought a UNI for my 200x and I had to cut the lip of the thing to slide to metal cage inside of it. the bracket will not work since the metal part is too far inside the filter to fit the bracket back on.

The new clamp for the UNI is much stouter than the original and I was able to clamp it down much better than the original and then I used aluminum tape to seal the tear/ cut in the filter lip and element. I am not sure how well the filter setup works during hard riding/ jumping. Guess I'll find out soon

 

on alot of hondas most people take out the metal mesh and any of the brackets. as long as you have a lip to put the filter flange on you will be ok

 

hey i i have a 1982 airbox in the 1983 bike.
i looked up some pics of a uni filter for 1979 to 1981 bikes and it looks like to be the right one... does any one know if the filters are the same lenght and just as wide? i have a 1980 110 that i need a filter for and it is the same part number so when i get it i will see if it works on both and if so that will comferm that my air box on the 83 is from a 82 bike
