Default 2007sp800 x2 trans/gearbox

My 7mo. old sp800x2 w/180mi has a faulty trans/gearbox. The dealer is replacing the entire part. I asked if they replace with a new or rebuilt unit.

I was told they do not rebuild them and I am getting a new part. The paperwork at the dealer I had to sign showed a $1450 price tag just for the part.

Can anyone confirm that this is true. I find it hard to believe they just toss the old parts.

Any comments appreciated.

Sounds like somebody doesnt want to rebuild tranny! I have rebuild several abused Ranger trannies, plus other multi operator farm/ranch machines, NOT just swap out tranny unless cases broken, severely damaged etc! ARE they trying to warranty repair work or or you footing the bill?

They are covering it under the extended warranty. It is 1 mo out of factory warranty. At first the dealer said they were going to repair the tranny, It had a bearing come loose and they were going to replace all bearings, a case half, and a shift fork. Then they changed their mind, said that it would be cheaper just to replace vs. the labor of rebuilding. I agree maybe they are replacing it because it is much easier?? I am thrilled that I am getting a new tranny vs. a repaired or rebuilt one.

But my question is
Does polaris actually supply a brand new tranny? I would think they would use rebuilt ones, and use my damaged one as a core to rebuild for the next guy. Seems to be how things usually work

It would be a new one IF COMPLETE TRANNY replacement was approved by Polaris with an authorization number for repair since repair was over $1000 under warranty!!! I've NEVER been sent rebuild parts that I'm aware of on FULL warranty replacements,BUT its possible internals could and can be rebuilt! Either way, glad its under warranty! Good luck
