If you took a Honda 400 EX and a Raptor on a race threw a wooded (tight trail) area, could a 400 keep up with a Raptor? Honestly! I'm not sure which one to buy.
Thank you!!!

I think it would be about the same, though Ive never ridden either so dont really know.. Either is a fine machine.. One thing that I have heard is 400ex's only have electric start (dont know about the raptors) but that kind of stinks.. besides that, man Id love to have one...

If you did the test you are talking about (tight woods racing), the Raptor would be the one trying to keep up.

It's really close..rode with a 400ex yesterday on tight trails . It was back and forth couldn't really get a good 'race' because of the snowy trails. I've heard the 400ex is better in the TIGHT trails other than that......

In a very tight area, a 300ex, Mojave, etc. will keep up with a Raptor or 400ex. After owning both, I would have to say the Raptor is bit faster in high speed woods riding. Rider ability is the greatest asset though.

Adrenalin, I have a raptor and 3 of my buddies have 400ex's I would say yes the 400ex is just as good through tight trails, actually stock the 400ex is better because of its width and seat height but on straight aways there no contest the raptor will out pull a 400ex but common sense would tell one that due to the cc's. If you get the raptor set up which I am currently doing I think it will be better exp with reverse but for tight trails the 400ex is just as good and honestly probably better if there both in stock form. But the 400 is a turd power wise compaired to the raptor which you can get the 400 to run like the raptor with some serious mods, so either way you go you'll have to either make the 400 faster later on ( which you'll want to ) or with the raptor a longer swingarm, some different tires and gear it down. So either one is a good choice but the reason for my raptor was reverse and you can leave the engine stock for good reliability!

Its all about the rider, either one could smoke the other in the trails.

With a 12T CS Sprocket, It is all raptor, Also when the area are not so tight the raptor pulls ahead a little quicker. If you get ahead on the raptor you are likely to stay there.

If it starts getting bike tight then the raptor will get it but other wise the 400 and the raptor are close. there also two diffrent power bands it seems the 400 is more low end. if you have turns with a wide trail the 400 would probaly get it, but that is where the riders come in

In tight woods riding I can keep up with my buddies 400exs on my Mohave, If it is really tight I can out manuver them. I haven't been in real tight riding with my Raptor yet but I bet the Mohave will keep with it in tight riding. There is no comparison on open trails but in tight trails it is more rider than machine.
