I have an 86 250r and the motor has been painted many times. I am having the engine rebuilt and would like to clean the motor and have the case polished. What is the best way to do this???

get ready to spend alot of time doing this. You first want to break down the motor and get the cases blasted with plastic bead. same as a sand blaster but with plastic pieces. you can also try a wire wheel and then go with a brass wheel. I use dico buffing pads home depot has them. you also need 3 pads and 3 different compunds. it will come out mirror finish. alot of work to do though. i polished my cases on my 500 now i am getting the side covers chromed. too much upkeep.

Could you just use paint stripper to get the paint off? Also what is a brass wheel? I can get some stuff bead blasted but i have alot more time on my hands than money.
