if there was gas left in the carb you need to clean the carbs. I would also change the oil.

Anytime I know my bike is going to be sitting for a long time I use Stabil in the gas.

If you are talking about when you use Stabil, no you don't. We use it on our farm equipment over the winter as well as Heet ISO for moisture control and we just run it out when we start them up. I am sure some people will tell you to drain the oil, but a lot depends on the condition in which it was stored and temperature fluctuations. This is all well and good when you are talking about a couple of quarts, but not when you have over five gallons of oil in each machine. The only ATV I have that sits for months is in a temperatre controlled environment and I do not change oil in it and it is over thirty years old.

You should drain the carbs and fuel tanks after sitting (with no sta-bil).
