Default Got to love those Mudlites

We are kind of snowed in at the moment so I've been out riding in the snow with the 850 and my new mudlites. I've never owned a Polaris before and I know that I've driven through stuff that I would have bean stuck in with my Grizzly. To say the AWD is incredible is an understatement. I just about got stuck at the beach when I went down to check the boat. It is a pretty steep trail with unbroken snow on it. It took three runs to get up and out of there but the 850 is parked at the house now. I'm sure I would have had the winch out with the 600 even with comparable tires. I also know I'm going to have to go down and rake out the beach path when the snow is gone I've been riding on the roadside through all the plowed snow and as long as you have a little momentum going in it just seems to keep going. The plowed snow is probably close to two feet deep. There are frame drag mark left behind so I guess it is compacted enough to keep it from sinking to the bottom. I stopped in it the other day to get the mail and had to back up a bit to get a bit of forward momentum which was enough for it to plow through and keep going. Pretty impressive.
Take care
Dave

Sounds like fun! Glad you are enjoying it and are impressed. Mine impresses me nearly everytime I ride. And the XTRs are pretty sweet. I've been places in 2wd that I couldn't go in 4wd with the stock tires...no exaggeration. Mostly mud,and steep hard clay hills.

Hey 600griz

I see from your pics they are mudlite xtr's. I too am very impressed with the traction in the snow. I have a small trail system near my house and even when the frame is plowing through the snow the xtr's seem to find some traction. I have only had them for a month but I can't belive the difference from my stock carlisle 489's, which at the time I thought was a pretty decent tire. I thinke the biggest difference I notice how well the tires hook up when cornering.

So it looks by your pics that you needed spacers? I really don't want to use spacers. I was thinking of 10" Mudlites all around. Are those the 11"?

Just replace your tires with the same size as what your now running stock so no spacers required .

Yes they are 11's out back...you will need spacers on the stock rims, removal of the swaybar,or aftermarket rims..no issues up front...
The spacers don't hang the tires out as far as the currently available/affordable wheels..
They don't make a 10" wide mudlite XTR for 14" wheels....if they did I'd have a set..
Only choices for a 10" off the top of my head are Zillas and Terracrosses(25" diameter)

They make a 27-10-14 in the regular series. Not the XTR though. I have XTRs on my Artic Cat 650 ATV and the reqular Mudlites on my Sportsman 400, but I didn't see a big difference between the two. Hard to tell as the machine are so different. I will likely stay with the non-XTRs for the 850 XP.
