Clunking at take off
#1
Whenever I take off there seems to be an initial clunk in the rear end. I always take off slow and the bike is new w/ less than 10 miles and maybe 4 hrs. This may be normal w/ no reason to worry but I don,t want to wait until the warr. is up to find out this is not normal. Thanks in advanced for any replies.

Should be no clunk, is there fluid in the tranny? I heard of some stranger stories when the ATV is new. Maybe a bad CV right out off the box. Get it look at for sure.

Both my 500 and 800 have this clunk on initial take off when first going into gear, L, H, or R. I've found if I wait a few seconds before taking off the clunk doesn't happen. Seems like it takes a bit of time for the gears to mesh. If the gears are meshed properly, the harder you take off the louder and more abrupt the clunk will be. Mine have done this since new and over 100 hours on each now and no belt or tranny problems.

I've tried varied take offs it seems to always be present. I'll bring it to the dealer to let them tell me "nothings wrong" but at least i'll have documentation that there a noise. One more thing it seems I have to give a fair amount of throttle to take off. I am used to riding old hondas I'm new to the automatic world maybe this is normal?

I to have the clunk and I did take it in within the first 50 miles. I was told this is normal gear lash. It is also bad when I take it out of Turf mode. I now have about 500 miles and just changed the oiles in the rear gear and there was no big buildup of shavings on the Magnetic plug so im thinking I was told the truth. JMO

The infamous Polaris clunk. All my Poo's have done this to an extent. I do not even notice mine anymore. Thinkin that what the dealer will say also but for your peace of mind and to have a record of it.
