Default Question on 2005 Bomb XT 500

Where is the gear shift/lever located on these? Anyone got one and like it? Driving 2 hours tomorrow to check one out---2005 500 XT automatic with 350 miles and plow for $4000. I don't know anything about these but it was recommended by a local shop. They're a little goofy-looking with that step-through design. Good rig? I think the price is good. An old dude owns it. Throwing in 2 helmets too. What should I know?

Default Question on 2005 Bomb XT 500

Yeah, as far as I can tell (did a search for Bombardier 500 XT because that's all I know about it---haven't seen it yet). I am looking for a tool and not a toy. From the info I could find, these things are built like, well, BOMBS. It weighs 150 pounds more than the Suzukis, etc. that I've been looking at.

Default Question on 2005 Bomb XT 500

The lady didn't know what it was---it's an Outlander 400XT. I like the looks much better anyway. Heading out for a test drive!

Default Question on 2005 Bomb XT 500

Bought it, LOVE it! My first ATV! Bring on the snow! This seems like a really nice solid rig. Maybe some peeps don't like the weight (listed at 694lbs) but I think it will be nicer for plowing. It has a Warn winch and Targa (?) county/state type plow. I put 2 miles on it just tearing around the house. My Bull Terrier thinks it's cool too. I assume/hope it won't be an orphan since Bombardier became Can Am.

Default Question on 2005 Bomb XT 500

Thanks---the wife actually works at the Bomb/Can Am stealership (although she didn't have much tech knowledge of it) and said it was recently serviced. The oil at least looked good (but I'm used to checking a diesel so anything looks good). Battery is fresh too. I guess I'll have to create a signature!
