Default CHECK ENGINE LIGHT 2006 sportsman 700efi

I just bought a used sportsman 2006 700efi (40hrs).

the check engine light came on the second day i rode it.

the check engine light comes on and goes off. no rhyme or reason?

bike seems to run fine.

downloaded the manual.

followed the directions to check the efi defaul codes. tried numerous times to access the efi diagnostic mode to no avail. (yes i did it correctly).

finally after several attempts the i get to the WAIT screen...NO CODES</u>. now i am really perplexed.

disconnect the battery. let it sit for a few minutes.

reconnect the battery.

fire it up and check engine light comes on.

let it run for a minute, check engine light goes off...

turn off the bike.

perplexed.

any suggestions before i take it into the stealer?

thanks

the Check Eng light will stay on for 5 seconds or more once the atv is started this is the norm.

how are the fluid levels? most of the time the light would come on and stay on so it would store a code. check wiring to make sure no bad connections or corrsion even w/ only that short of hrs. just an idea

took it to the stealer this morning. so far they are stumped as well (no surprise). if they cant get it figured out today i am going to pull it out and go over the wiring myself. at $95 hr i was hesitant to leave it in the first place

since it is so difficult it to go into diagnostic mode to get the fault codes i figure it is an electronic problem of some sort.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

oil, coolant, trans, diffs are all good levels. auxiliary brake fluid is low. from reading the service manual the check engine light has nothing to do with fluid levels other than low coolant would cause it to overheat... engine temp and efi faults only, correct?

any suggestions please let me know

how many hours does it have on it now? at 49.8 (or right arround there) the wrench light will come on. it is set that way from the factory. that way you go back to the dealer and get a service.

Is The radiator clogged or the outside air flow blocked?

just picked it up from the stealer.

asm-cluster replaced
mount-rubber, new
1 hr labor.

cost for repair unknown.

finding out the 700 efi you just bought used has an extended warranty. priceless.

44.1 hours

461 miles

ODOMETER AND HOUR METER IS ZERO since it is new. STEALER SAID IT COULD NOT BE MOVED FORWARD. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW IT CAN BE MOVED FORWARD SO THE HOURS AND MILES ARE "CORRECT"?

Default Fuel pump on, but wont turn over....

Ok Gents,

Here's a tough one.

Just replace throttle body boot, air filter, plugs.

No. Longer getting codes 41/45 but check engine light will NOT go off.

I remove neg for a minute and codes stopped by check engine remains, with no other codes appearing.

Now here's the kicker: the fuel pump will engage but the engine will not turn over, HELP! Any idea what i need to do?

Battery is charged, i do have a spare and may change. Any chance its a solenoid?

Thx guys,
Frustrated '06 700 twin efi owner
