Default Raptor headers

I have an 03 raptor. When I bought the bike it already came with a full yoshimira racing exhaust. My problem is my headers are glowing a bright red that did before I had my engine worked some of my friends told me I was running to lean but I cant be lean because I have a stage 3 jet kit on the bike . Its been glowing for a while any help will be well apreciated.

Can you see it during the day? If you can only see it at night, you might be a little lean but it is normal.

i also have a 03 660R that also has a full yoshi exhaust system. my headers glowed where they met the engine when i first got it, turns out it was way to lean,so i did like you and went to stage 3 and moved the clip on the needle all the way to the richest setting and doesnt get that hot now, have you tried adjusting your needle?

If you can see it during the day, yes you are way to lean.

yea, raise the needle to its highest setting(lower the clip).do that, then when you test ride it,get it up to like 5th gear about 3000 rpm and completely let off throttle. if its right,it shouldnt feel like it wants to throw you over the handle bars. it will deaccelerate but it shouldnt do it instantly,it should do it gently, thats when you know when your getting it enough gas. i go to school for yamaha's,i work on them all day, carbs are day 1. please let me know if that helps man....

Im hopefully going to school to be an enginer also but Im going for diesel technology. I had my raptor for about 4 years Ive been breaking stuff on it just from lack on knowlage on working on these type of machines hopefully when I go to school I working on these bike will be kind of a walk in the park. I just had my motor built it has an
Hot Rod Crank Assembly, A wiesico high compression piston, port & polished head , and a stage 2 hotcam. It runs pretty smooth alot more torgue but im looking for more I didn't want to bore out my cylinder because I heard your chances of motor Faliure is much higher and, where im riding you dont need that type of power anyway. But I will definitley let you know how that works out I just waiting on some new sprokets and a chain , and I have to get my muffler repacked but will egt that stuff done soon.
