what to do

I'm buying my first sport quad. I'm torn on opinions from my friends. What should I get, 400EX or Raptor. Here's my requirements.
Must be reliable, I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I don't want to deal with new product intro crap.
I want the baddest MF on the block.
I will be doing mostly trail riding because I'm in Florida and it's flat. But I do want to catch some major air.
If I'm making this investment, a few extra bucks for the best is fine by me.
I need unbiased experienced opinions. Everyone I've talked to has either or.
So what's the verdict?

well I had the same problem a couple of months ago and if the Honda dealer would have accepted my offer I would have bought the 400ex. Instead I bought the raptor. I wanted something fast and dependable. Yes, both quads meet that requirement. The Honda sits a little lower about 2" so in theory it should handle better. The one problem I had with the 400 is that I have seen 3 of them break swingarms from jumping. That was a major turn-off for me. Although I don't jump like the guys in hueos 3 I still get a little air. Overall, I think I made the best choice for me. Just remember it's your money and ultimately your decision. Good luck with whatever quad you choose. You can't go wrong with either one of them.

Wow, if you find a quad like that lemme know!!
Power, reliability, not do with new product cr@p, baddest MF on the block.... Hmmm sounds to me like you want everything that NO QUAD can really give you!! Every rider will reach their maximum potential on a bike, and want to upgrade.. Not enough power, doesnt accellerate hard enough, needs better handling.. The most useful information I can give you is this, Buy the bike that is the most comfortable for you to ride. I mean in body positioning, Everything on a bike can be changed except how you sit on it. Take them for a test drive if your dealer will let you. This will give you a better idea of how you will have to ride the bike. Both bikes have pro's and con's such as the raptor being more powerful, but the 400ex isnt the new bike on the block. If you can afford the raptor, but it will be a close call, then go for the 400ex. You will probably want to make mods to it (either bike) right away, and the 400ex is cheaper to start out with. And never over look the importance of riding gear!! If you can get yourself an awsome set of gear and a 400ex, then your set! You can always upgrade the bike and even sell it. But you will never be able to un-remember the pain of broken bones and shredded skin!! Either way you choose these are both good bikes, but like anything you can only expect so much from them. Hope this helps you out. (P.S. Im a Yamafreak, ride a banshee, and dont really like either the 400ex or raptor
