Default Polaris predator 50 prblem

I have recently bought a used 2004 Predator 50 for my son my daughter has an 06' with no problems. The problem I am having with the 04' is that when you ride it runs alright a little sputter a little but the main thing is when it come to idle when it is warm it will idle for may be a minute then die. It will start back up if you give it alittle gas while starting. also the oil light will stay on till you start moving with some RPM. The quad had been used in about a year told to me by the previous owner. I pumped out the old gas and put in new gas.

May need to clean carb jets and see if helps. Top off oil tank to see if light goes out, they are designed to come on way before you run out of oil. If light stays on ,may need new oil tank sensor that just plugs in.

Well I think this weekend I will change the spark plug, air filter and change the inline fuel filter before having the carb cleaned. As for the oil I filled it to the top and the light did go off but went bak on once again at idle and will go off when riding. Ipulled the oil sensor and slid the float up so that it didn't touch the contact and the light went off and when it touchs the contact it goes back on. I have never pulled, tanken apart and cleaned a carb on a quad before. Should I do it or have it done by the dealer for tuning, seals, Gaskets, etc?

Not that hard to clean carb, just loosen spring clamp at air box, remove 2 5mm allen screws to remove air box, loosen carb intake clamp, pull out carb far enough to remove 4 screws on bottom, inside will be float assy, main jet (which is visible) and pilot jet in small cavity(use small screwdriver to loosen) DONT loose as its small. Use spray carb cleaner through main and pilot jet.if either stopped up You can use a wire from a FINE wire brush which is pretty small to help clean jets clean jets.Jet cleaners are available at a lot a of cycle shops which have even smaller wires! Reassemble, adjust idle screw on side of carb. As far as sensor if you can live with the light ok,BUT check oil occasionally. Good luck

Did you ever find out what was wrong with the quad?
