A person I know just bought an '88 230, it has a clutch...now I heard that some people in here have beat 230's on 200SX's...how can that be??... it has a clutch it must take off faster. I want to race him but I don't want to get the pants beaten off me....so how can the 200SX beat the 230, what's your explanation??

i raced a zuki 230 while riding my foreman one day, just to see how bad i'd get beat, the zuki could have done circles around me if my friend wanted to, the next day i raced a 200SX and gave my friend a head start. My foreman killed it. No i'm not saying which one is faster and what not but it could have also been the ride of either machines. My friend on the 200SX doesnt normaly ride fast and hard like i do. I say race em and find out. Just my 2 cents

good question ive got a 230E , auto clutch , and you would probly be even with me on that thing. another thing 230's have way better suspention than that 200. ive ridden a honda 300 4X4 and my 230 in the same day and the 300 was way faster on low end all the way through the power band.

I used to have a 1987 Suzuki 230, blue and white, with a clutch. My brother in law had a 1986 200SX at the same time. We raced all the time and the 230 Always won, no matter who was riding. We traded, same results, Suzuki every time.
As I recall drag racing wasn't my favorite pastime on that bike. You could ride wheelies on that thing for days, the short wheel base made it wheelie-friendly. I sold mine in 1989 to pay for some college classes. What the heck was I thinking? LOL!!

Well the 200SX is good for wheelies too, I can do one in first gear without popping the clutch and bring it up on to the rear grab bar, and I can stay up on wheelies forever on it, but it isn't great on it's rear suspension and chain. I didn't think I could beat a 230 but it would be nice

Well boys it ain't gonna happen! The 230 will plain out outdo it anytime. I've owned both at the same time. With my modds i can ride a wheelie in up to 4th gear just by working the clutch. I totally disagree about a 300 4x4 having more lowend. The non clutch quads just don't have that "punch" or the front end getting light that the sport manual clutched quads do. Yes the 200sx will spin tires and go fast and get there fast, but it can't spin up to 5th in the gravels and it able to charge in a sharp corner in a high gear, feather the clutch (in the 200's case slip the shifter) to keep the revs up and be able to pull that high gear out of the corner then gain traction and wheelie. Just my 2 cents.

well my 230 has a auto clutch , it takes a bit longer for it to get into 3rd gear than the honda , 4th and 5th gear however rev alot quicker on the 230 than the honda i could be pinning the honda in 5th on flat ground and it would take quite a while to get up to top speed

I dont care what anyone says, I know for a fact that my 200sx will hang with my friends 230 quadsport. And as long as we both start at the same time, it is dead even all the way. If he starts before I do, he will win if i do, i will win. My friend will even back this up. Unless my 200sx is alot faster than stock. Or he has a wore out 230. Just giving you the facts.

Well i'll tell you before i put a new piston in my 230 it wouldn't outrun a bicycle. Put a fresh bore and a new piston on that 230 along with someone that can drive a clutch and you'll get beat mudslinger.
