Raptor 700R SE 2009
#1
Hi,
Finally purchased the Yamaha Raptor 700R SE 2009 before yesterday!
and I have some questions about the Engine Break-in period..
1- Is it right that I shift gears normally?
I press the throttle 1/2 and shift until the 4th gear and no more than 40 km/h
am I doing it right?
2- Is it OK to rev up on Neutral?
I was very excited when I got it home, and when I started it..after like 10 mins idle, I rev up full throttle but I press it in split second.
was this really bad for the engine?
I hope I did nothing wrong
just to let you guys know, the Yamaha dealer told me NOT to go more than 40 km/h and I can operate the ATV normally after filling the fuel 6 times, but didn't told me if I should shift gears or not.
it was my mistake I didnt ask him those questions before starting it, it was just cause I was VERY excited lool

your fine and i would shift into 5th myself for break in just dont go drag racing around. break in is actully really fast went my builder built mine we just took it up and down the block a couple times then put it on the dyno and let it rip. the cam on a stockbike might take a tiny bit more time but not 6 tanks worth of fuel.

i would not rev it up during idle but it is fine to go over that speed. i actully recomend it. u should also check this site out it is great for raptor owners tons of ppl that know whats up with these things. www.moddedraptor.com

Ride it, Go through every gear and open it up. Don't hold your RPMs at one spot. You want them to fluctuate.
I have also heard good things about shooting up hills and use the motor to slow you on decent. I don't remember the details but it is supposed to seat the rings better.

That whole break-in is BS. Ride the heck out of it, it won't hurt it. Just don't over rev it and don't hold the throttle in one spot for very long until you have used 6 tanks. Not going over 40 km/hr is total BS, the dealer didn't know what he was talking about. You can do 40 km/hr in 2nd gear!

When breaking it in i suggest not revving it up during idle. Also dont drive at a constant speed the whole time, you want to vary the speed around a lot in different gears( even fifth ). You can go above 40kmh but dont go past 3/4 throttle.
