Default Looking at a 2007 Outlander 800 XT

I haven't had a quad in quite a while, but I started hunting this year again and I think I want one. I wasn't looking to buy one until closer to hunting season, but what appears to be a good deal has fallen in my lap. However, it is a BRP and I know little about them other than what I was able to soak up here in the last two days.

In a nutshell, it is a 2007 Outlander 800 XT (winch, bumpers, etc.), camo, 700 miles, 120 hours, for $5300. It is in relatively good shape. Only real things I can see wrong with it: Rusty muffler, surface oxidation on the aluminum parts, and a couple rust spots on the racks from use.

The other option is to buy a new Polaris 500 H.O. for about the same money. I don't think I can go wrong here, but would like a couple of other opinions before I commit.

Thanks,
Kendall

I would normally go with the Can-Am, but in this case, you can get a new Sportsman 500, with not miles, no wear and tare, no rust, no nothing. Im going to have to say , go for the Polaris Sportsman, they are great machines.

OK, so I'm probably biased (see sig). Granted a new quad is nice, but the Polaris 500 is nowhere near the bike that the Can-Am is. The XT package includes a winch and HD radial tires - does the Polaris come with that?

I totally concur with Jaybee> The Polaris 500 is not in the same arena as the Outlander. My feeling is that sounds like a decent deal for the 2007. if it is sound and checks out....do it. Why not?

It only worth to you what your willing to pay. If you want it, like it then buy it.
What may be a good deal for you may not be good for others, but it doesent matter only you need to be happy with it.
Its a gerat bike and you will not be disapointed with the performance as long as it has been properly maintain.

I guess my real question is: Do you Can-am guys think it is a good deal. Or is it just an average price for this bike? It also has front and rear baskets, aluminum skid plate and stick guards, additional brush guard. The baskets and brush guards have been Line-X coated. At this price can I sell it in a year and not lose my behind? The owner paid almost $12K out the door.

When I bought my 08 500 Max XT in Nov 08 there is a quiet a few 07 still avaiable at the dealers in my area at really great deals, you may want to do inventory search in your area to see how munch their asking, I think you will be supprised they need to move them. Some changes where made for 08 models thats why I did not go with the 07 myself. I personely would by new if I could get a good closeout price, buts thats me and I dont know what they go for in your area.

I have a 07 650 Outlander w/no extras on it. Its fast handles great, and is very confortable. If you can get the 800xt for $5300. jump on it you will be happy.

You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

If you can, put the two quads side by side and look them over closely. Then ride them both. You won't need to ask anyone for advice as you will have the answer easily.

$5,300 would be a decent price for a non-XT camo 800 Can-Am. So yes, for the XT model plus all those other extras you mentioned, it sounds like a very good price.
