I just bought my son a 2004 TRX90 that has no visible signs of abuse. He has been riding it for about a week and this afternoon it started making a clicking sound that is coming from the rear end. I set the atv up on a jack stand and turned the rear wheels by hand and the noise seems to be coming from the brake housing or possibly the axle bearings. Has anyone seen or heard of this kind of problem before? Thanks

 

can you wriggle the axle? thats is usually a good indication of bad bearings

 

The axles don't rock in the bearings. I think it's probably a broken spring or something else going on inside of the brake housing. How do you open the brake housing up on one of these ATV's? Thanks

 

Anyone know how tight the nuts that hold the dust cover on should be? It looks like it is shoving the brake drum into the brake shoes slightly

 

i had the same problem on my 02 trx 90. mine was the axle bearings. an the brake cover i put mine hand tight with a wrench
